It departs from Catalina Landing near Shoreline Village, a residential neighborhood in downtown Long Beach. The Aquarium of the Pacific is right along the waterfront. The port is easily accessible from Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego. You can reach the port by car in about an hour and 45 minutes from downtown San Diego.

There is plenty to do in either of these towns, but Two Harbors is an excellent jumping-off point for boating, kayaking, biking, and hiking.
Compared to Avalon, Two Harbors is more relaxed. There, you can relax on the beach or enjoy a cocktail in a cabana at Descanso Beach Club.
Visiting in the spring and fall is ideal, as the temperatures are still warm and you'll avoid the crowds. If you are planning a trip between April and May or September and October, then April through May would be ideal. There may be some chilly days throughout the winter months, with temperatures ranging from 45 to 59 degrees.
